Summary

Join CLT for a paddle Escape with RiverRunner through the Congaree National Park!

Description

Join Congaree Land Trust for a (safely distanced) paddle Escape down Cedar Creek! This black water stream runs through the heart of Congaree National Park, and we'll paddle past huge trees, tall bluffs, cypress-tupelo swamps, and expansive floodplain forests that host an abundance of wildlife. CLT's conservation easements in the COWASEE Basin provide a buffer around the park, conserving streams and creeks that empty into Cedar Creek and flow into the Congaree River. Learn the natural history and wonder of this treasured space from John Cely and Billy Cate.

Tickets are $25/ per person; limited tickets available. Registration is non-refundable after Oct. 30th unless the event is canceled or rescheduled.

Due to the current climate during COVID-19 and permit requirements, attendees will be provided a canoe by RiverRunner Outdoor Center. Each canoe can hold 2 people. If you don't have a friend or partner joining you, you will be in a boat with another attendee.

We will launch from the South Cedar Creek Canoe Landing off of Bluff Rd. paddle down the creek and back up the creek to finish at the same spot. Attendees are welome to bring their own brown bag lunch to enjoy after the paddle at CNP's Visitor Center picnic area.

Escapes are educational program designed to connect CLT supporters and community to conserved areas in the Midlands through outdoor recreation opportunities.
