Description

Litter trashes everyone--making South Carolina's treasured waterways dangerous to our safety, our wildlife, and our economy. But YOU can help! Join CLT on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 9 am to noon for this year's Beach Sweep/River Sweep and help CLEAN UP a public boat landing along the Congaree River, the Thomas Newman Public Boat Landing.

The landing is located near the Congaree Creek Heritage Preserve in Cayce, which connects with the uppermost part of the COWASEE Basin, an area of critical conservation importance for CLT.

SWEEP LOCATION: Thomas Newman Public Boat Landing

TIME: 9 am - noon

There is plenty of parking at the site. Trash bags provided but please bring your own gloves!

Feel free to join us afterwards at the Hunter-Gatherer Brewery & Alehouse at the Hangar, located at 1402 Jim Hamilton Blvd, Columbia, SC 29205, to purchase a beer and a bite!

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!

Beach Sweep/River Sweep, organized by S.C. Sea Grant Consortium in partnership with South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, is South Carolina’s largest one-day volunteer waterway cleanup event. Every 3rd Saturday in September since 1988, thousands of South Carolinians clear beaches, rivers, lakes, marshes, and swamps of aquatic debris.

Please register for the clean up by emailing erin@congareelt.org
